English-taught degree programs are increasing at Italian universities. Out of a total of 5,320 programs, 742 will be taught in English during the 2025/26 academic year. In percentage terms, this is 13.9%; however, if we include the 420 degrees provided in both Italian and English, the ratio jumps to 21.8%. The number of programs offered in languages other than Italian has gradually increased. In 2013/14, there were a total of 4,356 programs, with 142 in English and only 10 in Italian/English. The next year, the figures were 4,306, 194, and 33, respectively. In 2021/22, the target of 500 degrees taught in English was exceeded (537 plus 298 in both languages) out of a total of 4,933. The program's most recent additions, which are entirely taught in English, encompass nearly every field of study, including: Economics and Statistics, History, Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology; Medical Sciences, Industrial and Information Engineering; Ancient, Philological, Literary, and Historical-Artistic Sciences, Civil Engineering, and Architecture.
