A new sound ident that combines heritage and innovation celebrates Vatican Radio's 95th anniversary since its founding on February 12, 1931. The original tune of "Christus Vincit", which has always accompanied listeners of "Pope's Radio", has been rewritten in a modern key, in interaction with contemporary sensibilities while remaining traditional. The new sound logo was created by maestro Marcello Filotei of the Music Programs editorial team, which is managed by maestro Pierluigi Morelli, and will be used in regular programming permanently. The rearrangement of "Christus Vincit" will complement maestro Alberico Vitalini's historic orchestration of Czech composer Jan Kunc's subject. In detail, four main idents are planned, all based on the “Christus vincit” theme, each designed to accompany a different moment of the radio day: awakening, morning, afternoon, night. In addition, following the historical-musical tradition of the papal broadcaster, a special ident recalling Baroque-period orchestration was created by Morelli. The new idents are broadcast on both the Italian-language radio channel and 30 Vatican Radio web radio stations, creating a global listening experience.
