A jewel in the crown of Italian culture that benefits the whole country: this is the view of Massimo Biscardi, who has led Rome’s National Academy of Santa Cecilia for a year. The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is one of Italy's most renowned opera and symphony foundations, and it is widely recognized and admired abroad. This is evidenced by the numerous international tours and their success, as well as the recent significant recognition it received from the English magazine "Bachtrack". The magazine (which examines the operations of significant musical institutions around the world) ranks the Accademia Orchestra sixth in the international list of leading orchestras based on the number of countries visited on tour, and seventh in terms of total concerts and productions. In 2025, 29 off-site concerts were held, up from 24 in 2023 and 27 in 2024, and three significant tours took the Orchestra and Music Director Daniel Harding to numerous destinations across Europe and Asia. Over 35,000 people attended the 21 European dates, and approximately 19,000 attended the Asian ones, with seven sold-out shows. As of February 2nd, the 2025-2026 season had sold over 51,000 tickets (almost 5,000 more than the previous season on the same date), generating €1.78 million in revenue (€281,000 more). Subscriptions and ticket packages also rose, especially youth packages, up 10%.
