"Brothers and sisters, Jesus teaches us that true justice is love". At the Angelus, Pope Leo XIV emphasized the importance of avoiding evil externally, stating, "It is insufficient to refrain from physically killing an individual if I subsequently betray their dignity or kill them with words." In the same vein, "it is not enough to be formally faithful to one's spouse and abstain from engaging in adultery if the relationship is devoid of mutual tenderness, listening, respect, caring for one another, and sharing a common goal. The Gospel, the pontiff concluded, teaches that "minimal justice is insufficient; great compassion is required, which is achievable through the power of God”.
