The Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus at San Siro (which ended 3–2) experienced moments of high tension last Saturday. Referee Federico La Penna sent off Pierre Kalulu for a second yellow card at halftime for a foul on Alessandro Bastoni, who, as video footage subsequently revealed, had simulated contact. According to sources, La Penna prepared a four-page report that was also evaluated by FIGC inspectors. Managers and coaches got into a fight in the stadium tunnel during halftime. Damien Comolli, Juventus' technical director, Giorgio Chiellini, the former Juventus captain and current manager, and coach Luciano Spalletti were all involved. The Sports Judge is examining possible suspensions for Comolli and Chiellini, as well as a fine for Juventus. According to some witnesses, the dispute was rather intense. Comolli and Chiellini allegedly shouted "you referees always make mistakes" at La Penna and Inter management. Spalletti reportedly told Inter president Giuseppe Marotta: "You've done something awful". According to speculations, La Penna faces a month-long penalty following a decision that referee designator Gianluca Rocchi described as "clearly incorrect". La Penna immediately filed a report with the Postal Police about threats he received online, including some intended against his wife and two young girls. The most dangerous messages were "I'll shoot you", "I'll kill you," and "We'll come looking for you; we know where you live". As a lawyer, La Penna is familiar with legal procedures: as he noted, "I've documented everything, and I know how to proceed in these situations".
