A new app for liturgies with simultaneous translation in 60 languages assisted by artificial intelligence, including readings, hymns, and services. This is one of the initiatives celebrating the fourth centenary of the dedication of St. Peter's Basilica (1626-2026), offered by Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica, Pope's Vicar General for Vatican City, and President of the St. Peter Fabric. “We want to live the fourth centenary with creative fidelity to preserve and renew what we have inherited,” the cardinal said. This is why the Vatican is working on digital: in addition to the new app, live streaming of the Basilica's major ceremonies is planned. The "Smart Pass" service, a new real-time booking system for entrance to the Basilica, will also be introduced. An innovative attendance monitoring system will also be implemented, consisting of a network of sensors inside the Basilica that will monitor the movement of people, improve their safety, and manage internal areas. The "Social Wall" interactive element will soon be available, allowing pilgrims and tourists to share their experiences at St. Peter's. The "Beyond the Visible" project, created in collaboration with Eni, an Italian multinational energy company, allowed for investigations into the building's foundations and subsoil down to a depth of 100 meters, analysis of the entire monumental complex, and the installation of a structural monitoring system to detect shifts, adjustments, and accelerations in real time. Finally, the new institutional font “Michelangelus,” inspired by Michelangelo’s handwriting, will be included in the Microsoft Office package.
