Italy won the gold medal in men's pursuit speed skating at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The Italian team, led by Davide Ghiotto, defeated the US in the final. With this victory, Italy now has 24 medals (nine gold), breaking the previous record. Twenty years after their historic victory in Turin 2006, led by Fabris, Anesi, and Sanfratello, Italian speed skating returned to the top of the podium.
