The "Derby d'Italia," a highly competitive match between Juventus and Inter, has had significant repercussions beyond the field. Following the fight at halftime of Saturday night's match, a Lega Serie A sports judge imposed fines on two Juventus officials and a player. The most severe punishment goes to Juventus CEO Damien Comolli, who has been banned from playing until March 31, 2025 and fined €15,000. According to the disciplinary report, at the end of the first half, Comolli confronted the match official in the passageway leading to the locker room, acting aggressively and intimidatingly. The official sought physical contact with the referee, but was stopped by Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti and other staff members, and he also made comments that were judged insulting. The behavior continued near the referee's dressing room. The suspension includes a prohibition from official team activities, access to restricted areas in stadiums, and the right to represent the club in federal matters during the suspension period. Giorgio Chiellini, who is now a Juventus director following a long career as the club's captain, gets a shorter but still significant ban. His suspension expires on February 27. In his case, the sports judge observed heated and disrespectful protests directed at the referee during halftime, as well as additional offensive criticism directed at the match officials. An assistant referee also reported the event. On the players’ side, one suspension: defender Pierre Kalulu will miss one league match following the red card received in the controversial incident with Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni.
