Italian researchers from a university spin-off have achieved a major breakthrough in the field of cell therapy. The study, published in the prestigious journal Immunity (Cell Press edition), focuses on a new cell therapy called REMaST®, developed by a spin-off originating from the Università di Verona and the Università degli Studi di Milano. This therapy works by “re-educating” specific immune cells in the laboratory so that, once reintroduced into the body, they promote the regeneration of spinal cord injuries – an area previously considered largely irreversible in cases of neurological damage. This achievement opens up innovative prospects for the treatment of spinal cord injuries, with potential future clinical developments. Italian research once again confirms its leading position in regenerative medicine, with tangible prospects for patients suffering from severe neurological injuries.
