Rome Capital has applied to host the European Union Customs Authority (EUCA) in a 1950s building in the EUR neighborhood. The application was presented at Fuksas's Nuvola, a futuristic conference center, in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, the President of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM), Roberto Alesse, and the Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, General Andrea De Gennaro. At the presentation of the application, Minister Giorgetti stated that "the Italian government places the utmost importance on the success of the European Customs Authority" and that Italy "brings consolidated expertise and practical experience in the customs sector, which can be put to the service of the European Union".
