The Pope encourages us to consider the distress of young people in the context of the reality that a significant number of them "live without any reference to God and the Church". This morning, he met with Rome's clergy in the Vatican's Paul VI Hall. The pontiff extended an invitation to "comprehend and interpret the profound existential distress that resides within them, their confusion, their numerous challenges, as well as the phenomena that affect them in the virtual world and the symptoms of a concerning aggressiveness that occasionally results in violence". "We do not have easy solutions that guarantee immediate results," he added, "but, as far as possible, we can listen to young people, be present, welcome them, and share a piece of their lives". "At the same time, because the challenges influence many aspects of life, we want to communicate and interact as parishes with local institutions, schools, education and human sciences specialists, and all those concerned about our children's fate and future", he continued. He also offered encouragement to younger priests, who “often experience firsthand the potential and the struggles of their generation and of this era". "In a more difficult and less rewarding social and ecclesial context, one can run the risk of quickly exhausting one's energy, accumulating frustration, and falling into loneliness", the pope said. He called for "daily fidelity in one's relationship with the Lord and to work with enthusiasm even if you don't see the fruits of your apostolate now".
