A 40-year-old woman has been reported for fraudulent insolvency after pulling off a classic “dine and dash” in Vigevano, in the province of Pavia. The incident occurred on December 18, when the woman consumed a full meal at a local restaurant totaling 70 euros and left the premises without paying. The restaurant owner chased after her on foot together with her husband, who managed to stop the woman. She claimed she had forgotten her wallet at home and promised to return later that evening to settle the bill. Trusting her word, the owners allowed her to leave, but she never came back. The restaurateurs subsequently contacted the police. Thanks to the restaurant’s internal surveillance cameras, officers from the Vigevano police station identified the woman and formally reported her. Authorities also issued two preventive measures: an oral warning and a so-called “Daspo Willy,” banning her from entering any restaurant in the entire province of Pavia for one year. Violating the ban carries severe penalties, including one to three years in prison and fines of up to €24,000.
