How much did Italian families pay last year for electricity and gas? Facile.it, a company that compares, promotes, and brokers insurance, financial products, electricity, gas, fiber optics, and long-term car rental rates, found that the average cost in 2025 for residential customers with indexed-rate electricity on the free market was €2,055. This is slightly lower than the number for 2024, but significantly higher than in 2018, when bills were less than €1,200. Gas costs, which averaged €1,316, were the most expensive for Italians, while electricity cost just under €740. The study, which was conducted using the declared consumption of nearly 1 million homes, allows us to account for geographical variances. Based solely on electricity bills, Sardinia is the region with the highest bill. Families on the island consumed an average of 2,751 kWh, resulting in a €826 expenditure, which is 12% higher than the national average. Continuing the ranking, Sicily ranks second, with households consuming an average of 2,511 kWh last year, costing around €768. Third place goes to Veneto, with an average bill of €767 for 2,505 kWh consumed annually.
