Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome has been re-included in the World's finest Hospitals ranking, a list of the world's finest hospitals that has been created by Newsweek and Statista since 2019. Specifically, Bambino Gesù Hospital is the leading pediatric hospital in Europe and sixth in the world ranking of pediatric specialized institutions, as well as the only pediatric hospital in the Italian healthcare system to be ranked among the top 30 in the world. The hospital, a non-profit enterprise owned by the Vatican, is an essential component of the national health service. The World's Best Hospitals rating is based on a comprehensive international survey of healthcare experts, independent statistics on quality of care and patient safety, and indicators derived from their evaluations and reported clinical outcomes. In the 2026 edition, 2,500 hospitals from 32 nations were reviewed, with a separate section for hospitals specializing in 12 clinical areas, including pediatrics. This milestone highlights the hospital's progress, which has resulted in significant international certifications, including JCI accreditation as an Academic Medical Center for training, clinical and scientific research. Bambino Gesù is presently Europe's foremost pediatric institution in terms of membership in the European Reference Networks for rare diseases (connected to 20 of the 24 networks), with approximately 3 million outpatient services, 100,000 emergency room visits, and over 33,000 surgical procedures performed each year.
