In 2026, tourists visiting Venice will still have to pay a fee ranging from €5 to €10. From April to July, the ticket will be valid for 60 non-consecutive days between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. This method is intended to control tourist flows and maintain a balance between residents and visitors, a recurrent source of contention for the lagoon city, which has 47,000 people and welcomed 12.9 million visitors last year, with foreigners accounting for 86.6%. The entrance ticket generates a significant amount of revenue for the city: the flexible pricing system (€5 for those who book between the fourth and last day of their arrival, €10 for those who book from the third day prior) has generated 762,476 payments, totaling nearly €5.5 million in 2025. The method has also proven to be a valuable tool in preventing illegal tourism. Over the last three years, the number of illicit tourist facilities discovered in the lagoon has decreased: B&Bs must emerge from the clandestine market in order to exempt their customers from paying a daily fee.
