Italian gelato continues to dominate the Asian market. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation's most recent Economic Observatory, gelato exports to Asia climbed by 72% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, jumping from 20 to 34.4 million euros. Exports from East Asia alone increased by 28%, from 6.8 to 8.7 million euros. Globally, Italy remains the fourth largest gelato exporter, after only Germany, France, and Belgium, with a total value of 372 million euros, up 19% from 313 million euros in 2024. Asia now accounts for 9.2% of Italian exports, a 44% rise from the first half of last year.
