The space economy is expanding and becoming more significant in the Italian landscape. According to research by the Space Economy Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano, the Italian market for Earth observation services reached €340 million in 2025, marking a 17% increase compared to 2024. Currently, the Italian space industry supply chain appears to be intricate, as 60% of companies integrate space activities with other complementary and contiguous sectors. Aviation (26%), engineering (21%), and automotive (20%) are the most commonly stated sectors. In this highly advanced supply chain, one out of every two enterprises has already used Artificial Intelligence, and six out of every ten have chosen space asset servitization models. The impact on technological and economic progress is becoming more apparent even in areas that have traditionally been distant from the space sector. Currently, space is a potential area of business diversification for one in two companies that do not operate in the sector (55%). This is due to the increasing distribution of space-enabled applications and the potential to leverage already consolidated skills, products, and processes.
