A twist in the story: Missoni remains in Italy. As had been speculated and reported for months, the American Authentic Brands Group will no longer acquire the dominant stake in the brand founded by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni in 1953. Instead, FSI - Fondo Strategico Italiano, which acquired the Sumirago-based brand in 2018 with a €70 million investment and now owns 41.2%, has become the largest stakeholder, rising to 73% following the Missoni family's exit. In addition, a fresh and unexpected player has arrived. Katjes International, through its subsidiary Katjes Quiet Luxury, has agreed to acquire about 27% of the label. Katjes International's core business is distant from fashion. The Frankfurt-based company is well-known for its several sweet and candy brands, including the Italian Sperlari, which owns Dietorelle, Saila, Dietor, Galatina, and Paluani, in addition to its own brand.
