Luca Casalini, a Tuscan freediver, set two new CMAS (World Confederation of Underwater Activities) world records for freediving under ice without a wetsuit in Lake Anterselva, South Tyrol. Casalini set records in dynamic freediving with fins and monofin, swimming 106 meters beneath the lake's frozen surface. "It's a dream come true." I felt incredible emotions. I've always wanted to carry Italy's colors to the top of the world, and at the age of 43, I've finally done so. I'm overjoyed", stated the Argentario athlete. Casalini's double performance has written a significant chapter in the history of freediving below the ice. The affiliated groups FIPSAS Bolzano Sub - STC Bozen, Club Subacqueo Rane Nere Trento, Gruppo Sommozzatori Riva, and Thetis Sub worked together to arrange and make these record attempts feasible. The support workers cut the appropriate blocks of ice to ensure the testing could be carried out safely.
