The Court of Cassation has denied Chico Forti's request for parole, and he is obligated to remain in the Verona Montorio prison. Forti is currently serving a sentence for the murder of American businessman Dale Pike, which took place in Miami, Florida on February 15, 1998. Forti has always claimed his innocence. The judges said the decision was based on a lack of internal repentance and a failure to recompense the victim's relatives. The Supreme Court also highlighted that Forti had never compensated the victim's brother, Bradley Pike, despite having enough money to do so. However, Bradley Pike has previously indicated publicly that he believes the former Trentino businessman was not responsible for the murder. However, the judges did not challenge the current benefit Forti receives, which is the authorization to labor outside the prison during the day, as stipulated in Article 21 of the penitentiary system. The plea for conditional release was not the first to be denied. In September 2025, the Venice Supervisory Court denied a similar plea made by Forti's lawyers. In that case, the judges emphasized the absence of "feelings of guilt or genuine sorrow for the victim's family" as well as the refusal to recompense for damages, even in part.
