In the wake of the Middle East conflict, the traditional Republic Day ceremony at the Imperial Forum in Rome on June 2nd will be subject to exceptional security protocols. The strategy developed for the recently finished Jubilee has been renewed, and it includes the deployment of nearly 10,000 personnel, including law officers, firefighters, and volunteers, as well as a thorough surveillance system, drones, and mixed patrols. The capital has 4,500 of the approximately 28,000 sensitive targets classified by the Interior Ministry for terrorist strikes. Given the participation of the President of the Republic and the highest levels of government, as well as the Ministry of Defense, the parade area between the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia will undoubtedly be closely observed, guarded from above, and safeguarded. Law enforcement and armed forces will collaborate to guarantee that the event is fully covered. The center of Rome—from the Colosseum to Piazza Venezia—will become a massive construction site in the following weeks, with work beginning on May 8th and grandstand decoration beginning on May 15th. Night trials begin on May 29th, followed by the Giro d'Italia on May 31st, a military parade on June 2nd, then grandstand removal and cleaning from June 3rd to June 9th.
