The most major street event celebrating Italy's cultural and landscape legacy returns, offering free admission to 780 places in 400 cities around the country. The 34th edition of the "FAI Spring Days" will take place on Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd. Since 1993, the Italian Environment Fund (FAI) has allowed hundreds of thousands of Italians to reclaim the cultural and landscape legacy of their cities and villages during the first weekend of spring. The communities that preserve this heritage pass down and renew distinct stories, traditions, and knowledge, as well as more or less well-known artistic and natural treasures. Every year, the FAI dedicates this "collective celebration" to them, with the goal of raising awareness, care, and protection. Hundreds of art, history, and nature sites from north to south of the Italian peninsula will be open to visitors, many of which are little-known and under-recognized, and many of which are normally inaccessible: from villas to castles, churches to educational institutions, artisan workshops to natural areas, including theaters, art collections, and manufacturing facilities. This year's new highlights include a number of openings commemorating the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi's death and highlighting the figure as well as his spiritual and cultural influence.
