In Rome, fashion starts again with Valentino, the founder of the prestigious maison, who died on January 19 this year. The Fall-Winter 2026/27 collection, designed by creative director Alessandro Michele, debuted at Palazzo Barberini. To ensure that as many people as possible could attend the event, the fashion house teamed up with Urban Vision Group, a media company specializing in urban communication, to livestream the show on giant screens installed in six locations throughout the city, which were transformed into open-air catwalks for the occasion. The show could be watched at Largo di Torre Argentina, Piazza Mazzini and Viale Trastevere, but also at the Macro Museum, the Mattatoio in Testaccio and Via Gregorio VII. Thousands of people also turned up in two other Italian cities, Milan and Naples. Over the last four years, the capital has hosted a number of high fashion events. Like Valentino's fashion presentation in July 2022, which had a runway that stretched between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Mignanelli. That same year, Lavinia Biagiotti staged a show in Piazza del Campidoglio. In 2025, Dior presented its Cruise 2026 collection at Villa Albani Torlonia, while Dolce & Gabbana's creations were displayed in some of the city's most iconic locations, including the Imperial Forum and Castel Sant'Angelo.
