On the night of the 16th and 17th, Moroccan soccer player Neil El Aynaoui, an AS Roma midfielder, was robbed at his home in Castel Fusano, a residential district on the capital's southern coast. Six masked men dressed in black forced their way through the living room gates to gain entry to the residence at approximately 3:00 a.m., according to police reports. Once inside, they locked El Aynaoui, his mother, his partner, his brother and his brother’s partner in a room before stealing several valuable items. The stolen items included jewelry worth around €10,000, a Rolex watch, and designer purses. Rome police officers responded to the scene, and the case was turned over to the Flying Squad, which specializes in violent offenses. El Aynaoui told reporters following the incident, "We experienced moments of fear". He then reassured everyone about the condition of those involved: “No one needed to go to hospital due to stress, we are all well". Despite the unpleasant moment, the midfielder headed to the Trigoria training center, which houses AS Roma's training facilities, to prepare for the next Europa League match against Bologna.
