Venice will host the Italian debut of the French hospitality brand Airelles. The brand, which is already established in prestigious French destinations such as Versailles, Saint-Tropez, and Courcheve, will inaugurate Palladio Venice on the island of Giudecca in April. The property consists of three ancient 16th-century buildings with interior gardens, Venice's largest spa (1,700 square meters), 17 rooms and 28 suites for a total of 45 lodgings, and a private three-bedroom villa with a pool. The hotel also houses a church, Santa Maria della Presentación, which the firm has refurbished for its upcoming launch. Palladio is also the name of the Istituto delle Zitelle, which was designed by the master in 1561 and housed young women learning lacemaking. The construction is inspired by the idea of a maison, not a hotel. There will be four outstanding chefs, beginning with Cedric Grolet, a star of French pastry making his Italian debut. He will be joined by famed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who started working in the United States in the 1980s and eventually founded multiple restaurants, becoming one of the most important chefs in New York. His abc kitchens format already has several locations in New York, one in France and one in London, and from April also in Venice, where it will bring the same concept of refined and elegant cuisine.
