Michael Hartono, an Indonesian tobacco billionaire and key shareholder of the Como soccer team, died in Singapore at the age of 86. "Como 1907 is deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Bambang Hartono", the Lombardy club announced in a statement following the death of the club's principal stakeholder, in which Hartono shared ownership with his brother, Robert Budi. "The Club sends heartfelt sympathies to the Hartono family and the whole Djarum Group. The Club has begun a new chapter in its history under the leadership of the family, and as a result, the company remembers him with appreciation and respect", according to the statement. The two Indonesian brothers co-owned Djarum, a tobacco company that they inherited from their father, Oei Wie Gwan, in 1963, and were also interested in banking. Michael was one of Indonesia's richest men, with a net worth of $25.1 billion as of December 2024.
