The Rome Marathon once again speaks Kenyan. Asbel Rutto won first place among the men in the 31st edition of the race, clocking in at 2:06:31, maintaining his triumph from 2024. His decisive move came at the 38th kilometer, allowing him to definitively break away from compatriot Henry Tukor Kichana. In the women’s race, a great performance by Pascaline Kibiwot Jelagat, who dominated from the halfway point, finishing in 2:22:44 and setting a new course record. Two Ethiopian athletes completed the podium, while among Italians the best performers were Luca Parisi for the men and Sara Carnicelli for the women. The event attracted almost 36,000 participants from 166 countries. At the completion of the race, Pope Leo XIV delivered a speech calling the event "a sign of hope", emphasizing sport's function as a tool for inclusion and inter-group discussion.
