FS Italiane Group has began testing its 5G network on the Turin-Milan high-speed/high-capacity line, which spans around 60 kilometers between Turin and Greggio. This initiative marks the first phase of testing for the Group's unique connection project, which was created to assist technological innovation in the railway system and passenger services. The pilot project infrastructure was finished in early October, and network performance testing is now ongoing in a real-world working environment. The testing will assess the quality and continuity of the connection, especially in tunnels and at high speeds, as well as define the technological architecture for potential future developments. The testing will also allow us to assess the role of 5G technology in improving on-board Wi-Fi service, with a focus on connection stability under complicated operational situations.
