According to a Censis survey, 32.5% of Italians aged 18 to 60 say they have met at least one sexual partner through social media. Whether it's Instagram, Facebook, or a dating app, today's sparks frequently fly through screens. Courtship has gone digital, with likes, matches, and rapid chat responses. And as new technologies emerge, our perceptions of intimacy shift. Sexting, or the exchange of sexual messages, photographs, and videos, is now common, particularly among young people, with 43.4% of those aged 18 to 34 engaging in it. 31.2% send explicit images, 28.3% engage in remote masturbation, and 15.9% record photos or videos of themselves during sexual activity. Where once a memory was left behind, today a more technological trace remains. 58.8% of Italians feel that sex and love may exist separately. Among women, the shift is clear: from 35.7% in 2000 to 56.4% now. Men maintain a high percentage (61.2%). The average age for the "first time" is approximately 19. Among men, those who begin before the age of 18 decrease from 46.7% to 29.4%. Among women, those who begin before the age of 18 increase from 29.3% to 35.8%; 80.4% of Italians have sex only with a regular partner. As a result, 68.9% of individuals in a committed relationship are satisfied with their sex life, compared to 29.8% of singles. But pornography is widely consumed: 59.3% of Italians watch it.
