Following the failure of the “Yes” vote in the justice referendum, the first resignations have arrived at Via Arenula. Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro Delle Vedove and Justice Ministry Cabinet Chief Giusi Bartolozzi have turned over their duties to Minister Carlo Nordio, following a morning of deliberations and consultations within the majority. The decision, which came after days of tension and discord, is a symptom of discontinuity in reaction to rising discontent. It remains to be seen whether other resignations will occur in other ministries. Delmastro indicated in his statement that he resigned despite denying any misconduct, acknowledging "carelessness" in the "Bisteccheria d'Italia" case, in which he was a partner with the daughter of a man convicted of organized crime-related offenses. On the other hand, Bartolozzi had faced criticism for her statements in a television interview, in which she referred to magistrates as a "firing squad", which added to the heightened tensions in the public discourse. Meanwhile, Minister Nordio is anticipated in the Chamber for questioning on the Delmastro case, as the political situation continues to evolve.
