Marco Bezzecchi’s hot streak shows no sign of ending. The Italian rider claimed his fifth consecutive win dating back to the end of last season, taking victory in Austin and leading Aprilia to a commanding one-two finish ahead of teammate Jorge Martin.
After closing out 2025 with two straight wins, Bezzecchi has now made it three victories from the opening stretch of the 2026 campaign. The result also puts him back on top of the standings after Martin had moved ahead by a single point thanks to his Sprint Race win on Saturday — a race that ended early for Bezzecchi after a crash.
There were no setbacks this time around. Bezzecchi came through an intense early battle with Pedro Acosta, with the two riders even making contact, before taking control of the race. Acosta still held on to finish a solid third.
Fabio Di Giannantonio, who started from pole for VR46 Ducati, missed out on the podium but still finished as the best-placed Ducati rider in the final order.
Further back, the fight for the last spot in the top five delivered some of the race’s most entertaining action. Marc Marquez, forced into recovery mode after serving a long lap penalty for his Sprint collision with Di Giannantonio, managed to edge out Tech3 KTM rider Enea Bastianini and Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez. Alex, in turn, overtook Francesco Bagnaia with just two laps remaining.
Bagnaia had looked sharp in the opening stages but faded badly as the race wore on, eventually crossing the line only tenth. He finished behind Raul Fernandez, who delivered another strong ride for Trackhouse Aprilia, and Luca Marini, the only factory Honda rider to make it to the finish after Joan Mir crashed out in the early stages.
Aprilia’s day could have been even more memorable if not for the retirement of Ai Ogura. The Japanese rookie had produced one of the standout performances of the race, climbing to fifth and appearing capable of challenging for the podium before a mechanical issue forced him to stop with five laps to go. It denied Aprilia what would have been a remarkable and fully deserved triple result near the front.
After the first three overseas rounds of the season — Thailand, Brazil and the United States — Bezzecchi now leads the championship with 81 points, four ahead of Martin. Acosta sits third on 60, while Di Giannantonio and Marc Marquez complete the top five on 50 and 45 points respectively.
