Despite security worries, 60% of Italian business leaders felt obligated to authorize AI projects in order to stay competitive and meet internal demand. This finding is based on TrendAI's recent research, "Securing the AI-Powered Enterprise", which polled 100 Italian business leaders from organizations with more than 250 people. These firms are introducing AI faster than they can manage the related risks, resulting in a growing gap between ambition and accountability. 57% of the Italian sample believes AI is exceeding their defense skills, while 23% have only modest confidence in their comprehension of the legal frameworks that govern AI. Governance maturity is low. Only 20% of firms have comprehensive AI policies, many of which are currently being developed. 41 % cite unclear regulations or compliance standards as a barrier. In practice, AI is implemented before the rules controlling its use are fully established. When implementation is rushed, it's simple to find governance discrepancies and unclear duties in risk management.
