Ed O'Brien, a British alternative music legend and Radiohead member, will perform at the Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber in Milan on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as part of his "An Evening With... Blue Morpho" tour. The tour, which includes seven live events in the UK and Europe, will also allow fans to hear songs from his second solo album, "Blue Morpho", which will be released on May 22. The Blue Morpho live show will bring together a collective of musicians who took part in recording the album, including musical director Dave Okumu. More than just a perfect replication of the album, the concert is intended to be a dynamic and engaging experience: a musical celebration in which each performance evolves and takes on a unique identity. The band, led by Ed O'Brien, is inspired by the free and experimental attitude of artists like Sly and the Family Stone, Miles Davis, and Phish. "To know the darkness, you have to go into it". This lyric by Wendell Berry, an American poet and farmer, inspired the album. This awareness inspired him to compose "Blue Morpho", his second solo album, produced by Paul Epworth (Paul McCartney, Adele), after going through one of his most difficult moments in life. It's a highly personal effort for O'Brien, who, despite remaining one of rock music's most celebrated guitarists, has chosen to start from fresh on this record. The album is a reinterpretation of his musical language, alternating between mesmerizing psych-folk suggestions, overwhelming guitars, trip-hop atmospheres, and light-filled quietness. "Blue Morpho" evokes the concept of an artist who transcends traditional forms, charting a personal map through which he discovers new ways of listening, creating, and living.
