Not only sunglasses. EssilorLuxottica and Meta continue to invest in the smart glasses sector, which is now seen as strategic for the eyewear company, by expanding their relationship and announcing the launch of the first range of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses developed for prescription eyewear users. The new collection will comprise two models: 'Blayzer Optics' and 'Scriber Optics', priced at 469 euros. This is a fresh instalment in the two companies' relationship that began in 2023, resulting in the emergence of a category, smart glasses, that is now gaining momentum in the world of eyewear, especially with the arrival of AI. "With Meta, we have achieved what only recently seemed impossible: to create a new category, that of AI glasses, from scratch and transform it into a product capable of generating strong demand and becoming increasingly desirable", said Francesco Milleri, chairman and CEO, and Paul du Saillant, deputy CEO of EssilorLuxottica, in a note. "We've given people a glimpse into the future with products that look attractive and fit organically on their faces. And this is only the beginning. We are taking a significant step forward by continuing to innovate with AI glasses designed specifically for prescription wearers, incorporating the most recent Meta AI features, and extending distribution. And by doing so, we bring the entire industry and millions of new customers along with us".
