Wine is recognized as one of the most dynamic categories of Italian e-commerce, with a steady increase in online interest and an increasingly important role for research in the purchasing process. Trovaprezzi.it, Italy's top price comparison engine, reported over 657 thousand searches in the first three months of 2026, up over 10% from the same period in 2025. A tendency that is part of a larger framework of category consolidation: in 2025, total searches reached 2.67 million, proving wine's relevance in the digital space. When user preferences are analysed, a clear picture emerges: sparkling wines dominate the scene, accounting for approximately 52% of interest, followed by red wines (36.7%). Whites (8%) are further away, but still prevalent, as are rosés and dessert wines (3.3%). A chart that demonstrates how online consumption is heavily directed toward products associated with special occasions and moments of conviviality, with a rising emphasis on premium labels.
