A group of young restorers will take their first steps in the world of cultural heritage conservation among the frescoes and thousand-year-old walls of the Pompeii excavations: thanks to a program of curricular training internships, the students of the Botticino School of Restoration will be immersed in the Archaeological Park's active construction sites. The first working group, consisting of two students, has begun monitoring and maintaining decorative apparatus in the active construction sites on the site. They will have an immersive training experience in close contact with one of the world's most complex and prestigious conservation contexts. The internships will take place in seven-week cycles, totaling 250 hours for each of the fourteen trainees, providing a unique chance for hands-on learning alongside specialists who work every day to conserve Pompeian heritage. This will allow students at the Botticino School of Restoration to learn technical skills, observation skills, and a sense of responsibility that will be essential in their future careers, transforming Pompeii into a true open-air classroom.
