Italy’s National Social Security Institute (INPS) has announced an increase in the *Reddito di Libertà* (“Freedom Income”), the financial support measure for women victims of violence facing economic hardship.
Under the new provisions implementing the interministerial decree of September 17, 2025, eligible recipients will receive €530 per month for up to 12 months, subject to available funding.
Introduced in 2020 and operational since 2021–2022, the program supports women—whether or not they have children—who are assisted by anti-violence centers and social services as they work toward independence from abusive situations.
The benefit aims to promote housing autonomy, personal independence, and educational support for recipients’ minor children. It previously stood at €400 per month in 2023 and 2024 before rising to €500 in 2025.
INPS stated that applications approved in 2025 will automatically be adjusted to reflect the higher amount. Once that process is completed, the institute will begin processing applications submitted for 2026, subject to available resources.
Applications rejected by December 31, 2025 due to insufficient funds have expired, but may be resubmitted throughout 2026 via local municipalities, the only authorized channel for submission to INPS.
