For 43% of Italians over the age of 25, reviews are the most important factor in deciding where to eat. This information comes from a new study by TheFork, Europe's biggest restaurant reservation website, on how Italians make restaurant reservations nowadays. Among the key findings are the following: users spend an average of over 13 minutes on TheFork's review pages; 76% of users move from the "Ask TheFork" results to the restaurant page, indicating an increasing use of artificial intelligence in restaurant search and selection; 80% of feedback on automatic review summaries is positive, confirming the potential of AI to simplify and expedite decision-making; and 8 out of 10 Italians over the age of 25 consider the opinions of friends and family to be critical when selecting a restaurant. As a result, three interconnected levers stand out for making judgments faster and more reliable: reviews, artificial intelligence, and word-of-mouth. It's the "paradox of choice", according to which the internet today serves as a critical showcase for restaurants while simultaneously requiring customers to navigate different stimuli and content.
