An invitation to recover cultural memory through the places that shaped it. The International Days of Houses of Memory and Museums of Illustrious Personalities return on April 18 and 19, a global event that will see the simultaneous opening of house museums across all continents for the second year in a row. Over 400 institutions have joined the effort, with more than 150 of them based in Italy and scattered over 18 regions. The public will be able to see the birthplaces and homes of musical, artistic, literary, scientific, and historical figures. The Italian stops include Luciano Pavarotti's House in Modena, the Ugo Tognazzi House Museum in Velletri, Casa Florio in Palermo, the Casa Don Bosco Museum in Turin, the Rossini National Museum in Pesaro, the Mantegna House in Mantua, the Grazia Deledda House Museum in Nuoro, and the Montanelli Bassi Foundation in Fucecchio. The event is organized by the National Association of Houses of Memory, which represents 120 Italian house museums, with the Ministry of Culture's patronage and the support of the ICOM international committees on historic houses, literary museums, and composers.
