Despite the challenging international situation, Italian furniture and design are doing well. This is corroborated by numerous analyses that were recently published in anticipation of the 64th edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, which starts next Tuesday. An analysis prepared by Intesa Sanpaolo, focuses on the sector's position in the context of Middle Eastern tensions, as well as the influence on energy costs and trade routes in the Strait of Hormuz. With an estimated turnover of €26.7 billion in 2025, the Italian furniture sector continues its dominant position in Europe, expanding its lead over Germany, which remains the second-largest producer with an estimated turnover of €21.7 billion. Last year, furniture exports totaled €13.8 billion. France and the United States continue to be the top overseas market destinations. Turkey and emerging markets such as India, Morocco, and Brazil are proving to be particularly dynamic, with significant growth potential for Italian exports in the industry.
