Stellantis and Microsoft have formed a five-year strategic partnership to drive the automobile group's digital transformation by jointly developing innovative solutions in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital engineering. The agreement intends to integrate Microsoft technologies into the Stellantis ecosystem on a big scale, bringing together the automotive group's industrial knowledge and global footprint with Microsoft's cloud, AI, and cybersecurity capabilities. The goal is to improve digital processes' efficiency, security, and interconnectivity across the entire value chain. Over 100 AI-based projects are planned, spanning from product development and validation to predictive maintenance and faster implementation of new digital services. AI technology will also be employed to enhance the driving experience, including tailored features for customers and preventive car health recommendations. Stellantis will build a global AI-powered cybersecurity center to monitor and safeguard IT systems, connected vehicles, production facilities, and digital services. The objective is to enhance the group's operational resilience and identify cyber threats more swiftly. The partnership also includes the modernization of Stellantis' technology infrastructure through the use of Microsoft Azure, with the goal of lowering the data center footprint by 60% by 2029. The cloud upgrade will enhance the capacity and reliability of digital services provided to customers, as well as more effectively support global manufacturing and logistics operations. Finally, the agreement includes the introduction of AI technologies to Stellantis personnel: all employees now have access to Copilot Chat, and 20,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses have been distributed in an initial phase to specified positions, followed by dedicated training programs. According to the two companies, the collaboration is a step forward in the automobile industry's technological transition, with the goal of making future mobility smarter, more connected, and safer.
