The commemorative stamp honoring Pope Francis was formally presented on the first anniversary of his death. The design on the postage stamp represents the Pope in St. Peter's Square releasing a dove, a strong universal symbol of peace. During the occasion, Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, stressed that Pope Francis has dedicated "every day of his pontificate to the pursuit of peace". One year after his death, the minister underscored how his message remains relevant, particularly in a global setting marked by ongoing conflicts, "some of which directly involve Europe". The ceremony began with a speech by Spanish Vatican correspondent Javier Martinez-Brocal.
