Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing employment and the organization of manufacturing processes in Italian businesses. According to Anitec-Assinform forecasts, the Italian market is currently worth €1.24 billion in 2025, increasing 33% from €935 million in 2024, and is expected to exceed €2.5 billion by 2028. Similarly, the most recent ISTAT data show an exceptional acceleration in corporate adoption: the percentage of organizations adopting at least one AI solution more than doubled between 2024 and 2025, from 8% to 16.4%. However, the impact on employment is questionable. Available estimates imply high exposure for more routine vocations; nonetheless, there is still little causative evidence. In the United Kingdom, job vacancies in the most exposed professions have decreased by 23.4%, while in the United States, employment among junior workers in "AI-Intensive" professions has decreased by 16%. The Italian labor market is still in its early stages, owing to insufficient digital transformation of industry processes. This is the conclusion of the report "AI in the Italian Labor Market - Professions, Adoption Models, and the Training Challenge", which was produced by Anitec-Assinform, the Confindustria association that represents ICT companies operating in Italy, in collaboration with the Department of Management and Production Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin.
