The 64th Salone del Mobile (April 21-26) brought 1,900 exhibitors from all over the world to Milan, occupying 169,000 square meters of display space at the Rho Fiera. Three annual events take place: the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Workplace3.0, and S.Project. Every two years, EuroCucina, FTK - Kitchen Technology, and the International Bathroom Exhibition take place. SaloneSatellite, which features 700 designers under the age of 35 as well as 23 international colleges and universities, invites the most promising young talent. These events are joined by some new additions: Salone Raritas and Salone Contract. The first connects the world of collectibles and unique designer pieces with the professional trade fair scene through the vision of 25 international gallery owners. This includes the sophisticated Nilufar, Salviati, the historic Murano furnace, Mouromtsev Design Editions, a UAE company, Mercado Moderno, a reference point for tropical modernism and South American collectible design, Bianco67, a fine Italian artisan who combines marble and new technologies, and Brun Fine Art, a gallery active in the high-end European antiques scene between London, Milan, and Florence. Salone Contract, a project led by OMA's Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten, focuses on the most critical section for supply chain development: not the individual product, but the design, production, and implementation of both furniture and architecture. The Salone is designated for professionals, but it will be open to the public on Saturday, April 25th and Sunday, April 26th.
