Italy is also experiencing an increase in the demand for high-profile private chefs, housekeepers, and domestic workers. The most sought-after profile is hybrid. The housekeeper/nanny is the most typical role: she cleans the house and, if necessary, looks after the children. This is followed by a live-in housekeeper, nanny, "pure" housekeeper, and cook. An increasing number of Italians are seeking a go-to person to take care of their lives: someone who can handle the house, the wardrobe, possibly assist with the children, make meals, and identify anything that is missing in advance. Salaries vary according to specialization and context. A housekeeper with cooking skills can earn approximately €2,500 per month in Milan. A personal chef's beginning wage is €3,500 per month for 40 hours per week, with the potential to earn €6,000-7,000 with an international background. Domestic workers are also an important part, with a starting salary of roughly €5,000 per month for couples. Separate lodging is frequently offered, but single live-in partners are more likely to be assigned a room with a bathroom. Demand is high, but supply is limited: there are more overseas candidates, many with well-structured resumes. Butlers are rare. Their monthly salaries range from €3,000 to €5,000, but their earnings abroad, in the United States or the Emirates, can reach €10,000 to €12,000.
