AS Roma have officially parted ways with Claudio Ranieri, bringing an end to his role as senior advisor to the Friedkin ownership after less than a year.
Ranieri, who took up the position on July 1, 2025, leaves after 297 days in the club’s management structure. While his departure had been considered a possibility following his recent comments regarding head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, the timing and manner of the announcement have nonetheless come as a surprise.
In an official statement, Roma thanked Ranieri for his “significant contribution,” highlighting his leadership during a difficult period and expressing gratitude for his efforts.
The decision also signals a clear strategic direction from the Friedkin ownership. The club has reiterated its full confidence in Gasperini, who has been tasked with leading a new project aimed at restoring Roma to consistent competitiveness at the highest level.
With Ranieri’s exit, Roma appear fully committed to a fresh technical cycle, placing their future firmly under Gasperini’s guidance.
