Maggie Gyllenhaal will serve as the president of the International Jury at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, which will be held from September 2 to 12, 2026. "I am delighted to accept the invitation to preside over this year's Venice Film Festival Jury. Venice has always valued original and unique voices, and I am pleased to continue this brave and vital legacy. I will not be there to judge, but to be guided by curiosity, admiration, and passion", stated the "The Dark Knight" star. The Biennale validated the presidency of the American actress, director, and producer at the proposal of creative Director Alberto Barbera, who stated that Gyllenhaal "embodies an artistic journey of rare coherence, built over time with intelligence and courage". Born in New York in 1977 and the daughter of director Stephen Gyllenhaal, she established an international career as an actress in successful films such as "Donnie Darko" (2001), "Secretary" (2002), and "The Dark Knight" (2008) before consolidating her role behind the camera: in 2021, her directorial debut with "The Dark Daughter", which won a Venice screenplay award, and in 2026, the feature "The Bride!".
