The Fondazione Teatro La Fenice in Venice has announced the end of all future collaborations with conductor Beatrice Venezi. Nicola Colabianchi, the institution's superintendent, officially declared the decision in response to public statements made by the musician that were deemed "serious, offensive, and damaging" to the institution and its orchestra. Venezi's statements, according to the Foundation, are incompatible with the values of respect and collaboration that govern the Venetian theater's operations. The organization reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining a professional atmosphere that prioritizes the recognition of musicians and ensures artistic excellence. The allegation originates from an interview the director made to the Argentine daily La Nación, in which she attacked the orchestra's selection mechanism, referring to a dynamic passed down "from father to son" and underlining her personal lack of involvement in favoritism. These statements prompted an immediate response from the theater's management and staff, who deemed them inaccurate and disrespectful. Alessandro Giuli, the Culture Minister, also expressed his complete confidence in the superintendent's work and hoped that the decision would assist in the restoration of calm to the theater environment and the city of Venice.
