It’s now official: Roberto Mancini has won the league title in Qatar with Al Sadd. A decisive 3–2 victory over Al Shamal secured the championship mathematically.
The confirmation comes after days of uncertainty. In the previous round, Al Shamal had briefly reignited the title race following a 3–0 awarded win that narrowed the gap. Mancini’s side, however, settled the matter in their head-to-head clash, finishing five points clear.
For the Italian manager, it marks yet another international success, adding to titles won in Italy and England, as well as his triumph at UEFA Euro 2020 with the national team.§
During the celebrations, Mancini waved an Italian flag bearing the words “Euro 2020,” a gesture that has inevitably fuelled speculation about a possible return to the national setup.
