As part of the process surrounding the clemency request subsequently granted to the former dental hygienist, the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation in Uruguay to confirm the accuracy of the adoption judgment for the son of Nicole Minetti and her partner Giuseppe Cipriani. The probe is part of an additional investigation ordered by the Ministry in response to a journalistic investigation published by Il Fatto Quotidiano. According to ANSA, at the time the clemency request was submitted last August, the ruling by Uruguayan judges had been presented by Minetti’s lawyers and subsequently recognized in Italy. At the same time, new rumors are developing in Uruguay about the management of adoptions by INAU, the national agency in charge of adoptions. According to an article published in the local newspaper La Diaria, the child's adoption was judged "highly irregular" by an insider at the organization. Daniel Guadalupe was the director of INAU in Maldonado when the incident occurred. Some media publications claim connections between the Minetti-Cipriani couple and the organization, including suspected donations. It is also stated that over the years, various juveniles supported by the institution have paid informal visits to the couple's Maldonado property.
